ASL is pleased to announce that Stephen Ixer has been appointed a director of the company. Before joining ASL, Stephen worked as a political and economic journalist in Venezuela and then qualified as a UK solicitor. ASL’s managing director, Michael Walter, says “Steve’s promotion to the board represents a significant landmark in the expansion of our Latin America team. We’ve a long history of involvement in Latin America and Steve will be working alongside fellow director Erika Hinojosa to further develop this thriving part of our business.”

New Appointments

ASL is very pleased to announce the arrival of two qualified lawyers – Sol Argerich and William Gow.

Sol Argerich trained and qualified with Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal, Argentina’s largest law firm, and joins ASL after a spell with Clyde & Co in London. She will be handling financial sector crime and liability assignments in South and Central America. William Gow qualified as a solicitor with Plexus, prior to which he worked as an adjudicator at the Financial Ombudsman Service. William will be dealing with management liability, professional and financial risks mainly in the UK.

ASL’s managing director, Michael Walter, says “We are delighted to have Sol and William on board. William’s insurance focused legal background makes him a valuable addition to our multi-disciplinary professional resources. Sol is a native Spanish speaker and this together with her legal skills developed in Buenos Aires and London will be a considerable asset to our busy Latin America team.”

New Appointments

ASL is very pleased to announce the arrival of a further three qualified Chartered Accountants who this month join our growing team. Jamie Gee joins our Dubai office from PwC with whom he trained in the UK before relocating to Dubai in 2017. In London we are joined by Dan West who qualified with EY in Reading and Joana Ball who qualified with Blick Rothenberg in London before spending a year working in Barcelona.

Jamie, Dan and Joana all join ASL’s multi-disciplinary loss adjusting team dealing with financial crime and professional risks internationally. ASL’s managing director, Michael Walter says “The arrival of a further three Chartered Accountants earlier this year, represents a significant expansion of the specialist loss adjusting and forensic accounting resources available to our Financial Lines clients. Their accountancy expertise and linguistic skills will ensure we continue to exceed our clients’ expectations both in terms of the quality of our product and the exceptional level of service we are able to provide.”

Lloyd’s Market Association Talk on Social Engineering Fraud

In June ASL’s director David ledger addressed an LMA audience of over 200 Financial Lines underwriting and claims professionals on social engineering fraud. Speaking in the Old Library in Lloyd’s along with Kennedys partner John Bruce, he covered the ever increasing range of criminal scams that aim to deceive innocent parties into releasing money and how these are impacting on financial institutions, commercial crime and professional indemnity policies.

New Appointment

ASL is very pleased to announce the arrival of qualified solicitor Alison Horne.  Alison joins us from Plexus Law where she advised Insurers on a wide range of professional indemnity and liability claims.

Alison will be handling financial sector crime and liability assignments on an international basis and will divide her time between ASL’s offices in London and Dubai.  ASL’s managing director, Michael Walter, says: “We are delighted to welcome Alison to ASL.  Her skills and experience will be a valuable additional resource to both our London and Dubai offices.”
